Gauly Advisors GmbH, a partner-led management consultancy for strategy and communication based in Frankfurt, Zurich, Brussels and Munich, would like to train and develop its employees in the field of change management. The consultant should be intrinsically motivated through a gamified approach. In addition, the learning module should be able to hold its own against Netflix and thus achieve the learning objectives in an entertaining and efficient way: Understanding change, applying change and selling change.
To this end, a gamified concept was developed that guides the change consultants through the very dry topics in a playful way. The content consists purely of text that has to be worked through. Since the consulting firm could only offer this training after work, the consultants had to be motivated to do it alongside their hobbies.
In order to overcome these challenges, a playful approach was chosen in which the consultants compete with each other. For this purpose, a concept was developed with the customer and the target group was analyzed. This concept was converted into a game world with the individual specifics in terms of programming and the existing content was linked to it.
The content was analyzed and different worlds were designed for different topics. We also looked at the target group and how they behave, which was taken into account in the concept. The idea of competition was of crucial importance for the target group. By working out text passages quickly and correctly, other consultants could be blocked and advantages could be gained to become the fastest and best. This strategy of using time and knowledge to put others at a disadvantage in the competition is the only way to attack the Netflix evening.
The content was categorized by topic and a separate planet was created for each. A story was written for the game concept, into which various tasks that need to be solved were incorporated. The game world was conceived, designed and programmed. In order to be able to compete, power-ups were implemented that give you an advantage the faster and better these tasks are solved.
